When: 17.03.10 6-8pm (followed by drinks and networking until 9pm)Where: The Lethaby Theatre G12, Central St Martins, Southampton Row, London, WC1B 4AP Do you know that even when you sell your original artwork, copyright still remains with you? Or that you don't automatically own the copyright for your installation, but that you do for paintings? Have you ever considered the complexities of authorship and subsequently, who actually owns copyright in work when there is more than one author or only consists of an idea? This evening seminar is organised by Own-it in co-operation with ECCA and supported by DACS. The event will cover general copyright issues relevant to artists and visual creators. It will also explore how you can generate income, for example through collecting royalties (such as the artist's resale right). It will help you to avoid pitfalls and subsequently costs when, for example, using other people's photographs in your artwork or collaborating with a partner or models. Most interestingly, we will also discuss what happens when copying is an integral part of your artistic practice such as in appropriation art – or when your work is conceptual and doesn't have a physical appearance.Admission is free however places are limited. For more information and in order to reserve your place you must register and book online at: http://www.own-it.org/events/rights-for-artists-an-introduction-to-copyright-moral-and-the-artist-s-resale-right
